SB Cares is the philanthropic branch of Sterling Bay. Our team works with members of the community to identify causes and organizations that hold a special place in their hearts. Then, we donate the time and resources to help achieve their goals.
Sterling Bay is committed to supporting and adding value to the communities in which we live and work. Each year, Sterling Bay donates nearly half a million dollars to worthy organizations through events and sponsorships, a portion of which are noted below.
Sterling Bay has teamed up with a Chicago organization working to end racism through community sports to host a socially-distant summer camp for local 5th – 8th graders at Lincoln Yards.
As proud supporters of the South Shore Chamber and Chatham Business Association, Sterling Bay has dedicated both its time and resources to improving the state of our City’s south side communities in the wake of the pandemic.
In July 2018, we were humbled to dedicate the landmark flagpole at 1100 W. Grand to police officers, firefighters, and paramedics who lost their lives in the line of duty. Both an American and a Chicago flag wave in remembrance of these first responders, who gave their lives for the city we all call home.
Thanks to the generosity of partners, we have given back over $8 million to Chicago’s community organizations. One 2018’s many notable moments was the September grand opening of Misericordia’s hair salon, which provides free haircuts to their community of people with developmental disabilities.
Through its ongoing work with Cara, a local non-profit that brings individuals in need back to the dignity and productivity of employment, SB Cares has helped create more than 65 new jobs for organization participants at over 25 of Sterling Bay’s Chicago-based properties to date.
We love hearing from people in the communities we serve.
